Source: U.S. Grains Council news release

The U.S. Grains Council is pleased to announce the promotion of Erick Erickson to USGC vice president. With more than 30 years of international agriculture experience, Erickson will be given latitude to redefine the post and concentrate his efforts on the organization's administrative and financial health as well as global strategies.

Erickson will work hand-in-hand with Tom Sleight, USGC president and CEO, on key areas including:

• Expanding the Council's funding base and structure by blending domestic, FAS and foundation resources
• Creating and implementing compelling, impactful and measurable marketing programs to serve both customers and constituents
• Sustaining the Council's reputation as a leading USDA cooperator
• Communicating success to customers and constituents via new technology
• Fine-tuning the Council's mix of policy, demand-building and trade programs

"Erick has been a valued contributor to the Council for many years," Sleight said. "I have full confidence that he'll work tirelessly to ensure the long-term vitality of the important work we do around the world."

Erick has served in a variety of positions at the Council, including director of global strategies; executive director for membership, administration and communication; director of planning and evaluation; and more.

Prior to the Council, Erickson was an international affairs officer at the USDA Scientific and Technical Exchange Division, Office of International Cooperation and Development.

Erickson received a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Brigham Young University. He also holds a doctorate from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Congratulations Erick!
