Oct. 9, 2014 Source: FarmLink news release On the heels of recent growth and funding announcements, FarmLink today announced that Randy Barker has joined the company as a Managing Director of Business Development. "As the harvest comes in, farmers and agronomists already are starting to think about next year's planning. With record yields and changing commodity prices, farmers and their partners are seeking accurate, unbiased assessments of product and service performance," said Scott Robinson, President of FarmLink. "Randy's expertise will help ensure the growing number of farmers and their representative organizations expressing interest in TrueHarvest have the tools and resources benchmarking provides while they make their 2015 planning decisions." In recent months, Farm Link has entered into partnerships with the American Soybean Association, StateLine Cooperative and Western Iowa Cooperative to bring the power of yield benchmarking to its members. In addition, FarmLink announced on Aug. 23, 2014, the closing of a $40 million equity round that expands investor commitment to TrueHarvest. "Before TrueHarvest, I had not seen a yield benchmarking service in agriculture that allows farmers to understand the full performance potential of their fields, let alone down to the 150-square-foot level," said Randy Barker, a FarmLink Managing Director of Business Development. "Benchmarking will change the game for farmers at a critical time by giving them a previously unavailable service to measure the effectiveness of inputs and other prescriptive farming practices, as well as to make resource allocation decisions. I am excited by the opportunity to be part of the next big thing to change agriculture." Prior to joining FarmLink, Barker spent nearly 10 years at Monsanto where he most recently served as Global Customer Experience Lead. He also created and led globally the company's Roundup Ready PLUS® Weed Management and Acceleron® Seed Treatment platforms. His additional roles at Monsanto included Seed and Traits Business Manager and VP of Chemistry for Monsanto Canada. Previously, Barker was Business Director for ag-input retailer Agricore United. Barker holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Lethbridge University and an MBA from the University of Guelph. Tweet |
