Terry Stark (California Association of Pest Control Advisers) has provided many years of service at California Association of Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA), and we thank him for his leadership. Many of us have worked with Rick Tolman (National Corn Growers Association) during his years as leader at NCGA and congratulate him on a great career!

The Workhorse Award recognizes one or more individuals who, over the course of many years, have shown dedicated service to the crop protection industry and CLA, working hard and diligently to promote both, and often assuming extra duties. These individuals have demonstrated significant and progressive contributions that support the recognition of the crop protection industry as serving a key role in the production of a safe, affordable and abundant food supply for U.S. consumers.

The Workhorse Award was given to eight individuals this year.

• Karin Bentley (DuPont Crop Protection) for her work on endocrine regulatory matters and the Endocrine Policy Forum;

• Carol Burns (Dow AgroSciences) for her hard word and leadership on comments submitted on the proposed Worker Protection Standard;

• Jeff Case (CropLife America) for his work and leadership around local issues management;

• Pat Kwiatkowski (Bayer CropScience) for her leadership in pulling together comments on the Worker Protection Standards Information Collection Request;

• Kurt Lunchik (Bayer CropScience) for his hard work and leadership on the Worker Protection Standards and volatilization comments;

Presidential Path to Leadership Award

The Presidential Path to Leadership program encourages and thanks CLA leaders who have shown exemplary service as voluntary chairs of one or more of our work groups, issue management teams or committees. The dedication and commitment of each chairperson is recognized and rewarded by the sequential achievement of advancing Presidential Chair status. The Chairs are named for four of our nation's presidents who most epitomize great leadership and dedication to land stewardship, and who were instrumental in promoting agriculture and conservation in our country: Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington.

The award is intended to be an expression of appreciation from the association and the industry for these outstanding leaders who have provided complete, accurate and unbiased information to our society about our products. As a result of attending the CLA Annual Meeting and interacting with members, the honoree will further develop his or her own knowledge of the field and will expand his or her network of expert contacts.
