CANADIAN SEED GROWERS' ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Source: Canadian Seed Growers' Association news release

The Canadian Seed Growers' Association (CSGA) announced today at their 111th Annual Meeting, taking place in Montreal, that Glyn Chancey has been chosen as their new Executive Director. Glyn will start October 5th, 2015 and will work with the current Executive Director, Dale Adolphe, during a transition period leading up to Dale's retirement later in the year.

Glyn will be retiring from the Federal Public Service imminently. He brings to CSGA a wealth of experience in various government positions.

Over the past 30 years he has held executive positions with a number of Government of Canada Departments and Agencies, including the Market and Industry Services Branch of Agriculture and Agri-food Canada, the Plant Health and Biosecurity Directorate of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the Red Tape Reduction Commission Secretariat at the Treasury Board Secretariat, and most recently, the Canada-U.S. Regulatory Cooperation Council Secretariat at the Privy Council Office.

"At a time when Government and industry desire to review and modernize regulatory frameworks and policies, Glyn's experience in government and background in the seed sector will be an essential contributor. His seed related experience will ensure the interests of seed growers are heard and understood," says Norm Lyster, CSGA President.

During part of Glyn's time at CFIA, he was the Director of the Plant Production Division, which encompassed the Seed Section with responsibilities for seed certification, variety registration and Plant Breeders' Rights. He was a significant factor in the 2004 establishment of the industry-government Seed Sector Review and the establishment of a National Forum on Seed.

Dale Adolphe has been Executive Director since January 2002. Dale has led CSGA through a period of change that saw a new Variety Registration System for Canada, the establishment of a Seed Sector Value Chain Round Table and computerization of seed certification data management and exchange. Most recently, CSGA implemented alternative service delivery of seed crop inspection resulting from the 2012 Federal Budget and CFIA's withdraw from direct delivery of seed crop inspection.

The Canadian Seed Growers' Association is a non-profit organization representing the interests of Canadian seed growers. CSGA provides leadership as the only organization to monitor and certify pedigreed seed crops for all crops in Canada except potatoes. Learn more at www.seedgrowers.ca.
