June 2007 Nicholson Kovac, Inc., is the new agency of record for VetCentric, parent company of VetStoreRx, (www.vetstoreRX.com) the first online pharmacy partner for veterinarians. "We chose to work with Nicholson Kovac first because of the agency's history in animal health advertising," says Steve Fowler, the company's Sr VP, Mktg and Bus Development for the Annapolis, Md.-based company. "Secondly, we were impressed by the agency's strategic planning processes and ability to develop truly integrated campaigns." The agency announces the addition of group creative director Kent Gilbert, whose career includes working for TBWA/Chiat Day, Saatchi & Saatchi and J. Walter Thompson. Recent additions to the agency's creative group also include Dir of Creative Svcs Phil Gayter, a veteran of Leo Burnett and RSCG McConaughy Tatham, and Lance McCormick as Sr Art Dir. Becky Pred also joins the agency as Project Mgr. Most recently, Pred worked as an independent project manager for restaurants, publications and non-profit organizations in the Kansas City area. United Country Real Estate, Kansas City, MO, selects Osborn & Barr (O&B) as its agency of record for public relations. O&B will partner with United Country to develop and implement public relations initiatives that support the real estate company's franchise growth efforts and increase the level of brand awareness among target audiences as the real estate specialists in country property. Filament Marketing, LLC, Madison, WI, hires Marie Peterson as a Sr Mktg Exec. She will be responsible for strategic marketing plan development and implementation for several of the firm's clients. Peterson was most recently with the City of Columbus, WI, as a community activities coordinator. Prior to this role, Peterson was an independent contractor for agricultural organizations, such as the National FFA Foundation and ABS Global. Derrick Coupland and Russell Jeffrey launch a full service advertising agency, CouplandJeffrey, Winnipeg, MB, which focuses on serving the Canadian agriculture industry. "The launch of CouplandJeffrey is, in part, a response to repeated requests from within the industry for assistance with advertising and communications. We see a definite need for a mid-sized business-oriented agency strictly focused on this sector," says Coupland. Between Jeffrey and Coupland they have combined extensive business, marketing and agricultural experience as Jeffrey spent 17 years leading sales and marketing operations at UGG and Coupland was President and founding partner of one of western Canada's leading advertising agencies. In 2003, they founded Blacksheep Strategy Inc., a national brand strategy and research firm. Jeff Pigott joins The Meyocks Group as a Group Acc't Dir and member of the agency's Sr Mgmt Team. Pigott was previously Dir of Foodservice Mktg for the National Pork Board. He also has experience with The Integer Group and Noble & Associates. Exponent Public Relations opens a new office in Orlando, FL. Bernice Neumann, Exponent Sr Counselor and head of its food and beverage practice will lead the office. Exponent Public Relations is a Colle+McVoy partner and a member of the MDC Partners Network. Swanson Russell Associates (SRA) promotes Marla Weeks to Acc't Mgr in its Omaha office. In her new role, Weeks will work with clients Schering-Plough Animal Health (SPAH) and Ag Processing Inc (AGP). Quarry Integrated Communications announces the addition of Peter Hohenadel, Matthew Mullen and Sarah Brown. A ten-year veteran of Quarry, Hohenadel returns to the organization as VP, Agri-Food Communications, based in Waterloo, ON. Mullen joins Quarry's Raleigh, NC, office as a PR Specialist. Brown joins Quarry as a PR Specialist, working out of the Waterloo, ON, office. Amy Berge joins Adculture Group, Minneapolis, MN, as Office Mgr. Prior to joining Adculture, Berge was Client Acctng Supvr with Colle+McVoy, Minneapolis, MN. Sarah Wilson joins the marketing communications agency of Ron Scherer and Company as Creative Comms Specialist.
