AGENCY NEWS September 2007 The United Soybean Board (USB), Chesterfield, MO, retains Osborn & Barr Communications (O&B), St. Louis, MO, as its primary communications contractor. The USB business is in O&B's Association Business Sector that Hugh Whaley supervises and the account lead will continue to be Kiersten Schroeder. O&B is also named communications agency of record by The Solae Company, St. Louis, MO, for its global branding initiative. Solae, an alliance between Dupont and Bunge Limited, manufactures soy protein using patented technology developed during more than 35 years of scientific research. Hundreds of products found in supermarkets today use Solae-brand soy protein including food bars, beverages, snack and meat alternatives. The agency promotes Rhett Hawkins to VP, Acc't Dir, Monsanto. Amber Spafford is named Media Project Mgr for Intervet Inc., Specialty Fertilizer Products, the Beef Checkoff and John Deere Worldwide Commercial & Consumer Equipment. Sarah Robinett joins O&B's digital marketing team as Interactive Project Mgr. Karen Pfautsch is promoted to Sr Acc't Exec on O&B's association team. McCormick Company adds Gretchen Grant as Acc't Exec and Laurie Whittington as Asst Acc't Exec to the DuPont Crop Protection account service team. Grant was previously with Vance Publishing and McGraw-Hill. Whittington is a 2006 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University. The agency also adds Steve Engle and Steve Thomas to the creative team in the company's Kansas City office. Engle had been with Woodruff Sweitzer and was the recipient of NAMA's Agribusiness Leader of the Year — marketing communications. Thomas had been with VML Advertising. Paulsen AgriBranding, Sioux Falls, SD, adds Katie Jacobsen, as a Media Coordinator. Jacobsen was formerly with Golden West Telecommunications, Rapid City, SD. Heather Covrig is promoted to Acc't Exec working on the J.C. Ramsdell, RAVEN, and ECOLAB accounts. Joan Meyers joins Paulsen AgriBranding as Dir of First Impressions. Martin|Williams Advertising hires Michelle Christe, Joshua Thompson and Sharon Larson as Acc't Mgrs. Prior to joining Martin|Williams, Christe was with Colle + McVoy developing new business brands. Thompson formerly served as an Acc't Exec for Arnold/Ostrom, Minneapolis, MN. Larson joins Martin|Williams from Morgan & Myers. AgraGate Climate Credits Corp., Des Moines, IA, selects The Meyocks Group as its agency of record. AgraGate is a subsidiary of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation which has been involved in the emerging market for carbon offsets since 2003. Dave Krog, AgraGate CEO says, "Our plan is to expand what's been a successful regional program and take it nationwide in a relatively short time, so the agency's brand-building expertise is important." Rhea & Kaiser Marketing Communications hires Eileen Crosby as a Mgt Supvr to lead the Southern row crop business for Bayer CropScience, overseeing activities for the cotton, rice and peanut markets. Swanson Russell Associates (SRA), Lincoln, NE, promotes Shannon Wall and adds Jen Lukas, Nicole Albertsen and Bethany Nelson to its interactive department. Formerly an Assoc Interactive Designer, Wall was promoted to Interactive Designer and is responsible for the design and layout of Web sites and other interactive projects. She was previously with Envoy Inc., Omaha, NE. Lukas joins SRA as an Interactive Art Dir. She was previously with Bernstein-Rein, Kansas City, MO. Albertsen is as Interactive Project Coordinator. She was previously with the New Digital Group, Lincoln, NE. SRA hires Nelson as an Interactive Production Artist. She was previously with the Nebraska Book Company. Nesh Malinovic is named VP, Media Director at Bader Rutter & Associates. Malinovic comes to the agency from Kelly, Scott & Madison in Chicago where he was an Assoc Media Dir. Originally from London, England, Malinovic has nearly 20 years of strategic media experience, working for multiple agencies, including Oglivy & Mather, Carat UK and The Media Shop. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of London. Charleston|Orwig, Inc. announces the addition of Laura Staton as an Acc't Mgr in its issues management department. Staton rejoins C|O after pursuing a personal business endeavor, owning and operating an art boutique in Brookfield, WI.
